1. Introduction
Welcome to Township Canada, operated by Maps & Apps Inc. ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our Services.
These terms apply to the Township Canada website and web application at townshipcanada.com, the Township Canada mobile applications for iOS and Android, the Township Canada API, and any related tools, features, or content we provide. Together, we refer to these as the "Services."
2. Service description
Township Canada provides tools for exploring and converting Canadian legal land descriptions (DLS, NTS, and related systems) to geographic coordinates and map locations. Our Services include interactive mapping with survey grid overlays, legal land description search and conversion, turn-by-turn navigation to land parcels, batch conversion and data export, saved locations and search history, and API endpoints for integration into third-party applications.
3. Eligibility
By using our Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account or making a purchase.
4. Accounts and registration
To access certain features, you must create an account and provide your name, email address, and payment information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
5. Subscription and billing
We offer subscription plans with monthly and annual billing options. Details of available plans and pricing are published at townshipcanada.com/pricing. Plans may include free trial periods at our discretion.
You may change plans or cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods or unused subscription time. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice to active subscribers.
6. License keys and device binding (Mobile Apps)
The Mobile Apps require a license key to activate. Each license key may be active on one device at a time. You may deactivate your license from one device and reactivate it on another. License keys are personal to your account and may not be shared, sold, or transferred to others. Abuse of the licensing system — including attempts to circumvent device binding — may result in termination of your license and account.
7. API terms
Access to the Township Canada API requires an API key issued through your account. API usage is subject to the rate limits and call quotas of your subscription plan. You may not share, publish, or expose your API key in client-side code or public repositories. You may not resell, redistribute, or sublicense raw API data as a standalone dataset or competing service. You may use API data within your own applications and internal workflows. We reserve the right to suspend or revoke API access for abuse, excessive usage beyond plan limits, or violation of these terms. API availability is provided on a commercially reasonable basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access and are not liable for downtime or service interruptions.
8. AI assistant
The Township Canada AI assistant is an experimental feature that uses artificial intelligence to help you work with legal land descriptions. The assistant can convert locations, provide directions, plan routes, validate descriptions, and answer questions about Township Canada.
AI-generated responses are provided for informational and convenience purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, AI output may contain errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete information. You should independently verify any AI-generated data — including coordinates, directions, and land description interpretations — before relying on it for any purpose.
The AI assistant is not a substitute for a licensed land surveyor, legal counsel, or official government records. We are not responsible for any loss, damage, or liability arising from reliance on AI-generated content.
Usage of the AI assistant is subject to the message limits of your subscription plan. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the AI assistant feature at any time.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws, attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from our applications, interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services, transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content, access or attempt to access accounts or data belonging to other users, scrape, crawl, or systematically download data from the Services outside of authorized API use, or use the Services in any way that could harm Township Canada, its users, or third parties.
10. Data accuracy disclaimer
Township Canada provides legal land description data and coordinate conversions for informational and reference purposes. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that our data is error-free or suitable for any particular purpose.
Our Services are not a substitute for a licensed land surveyor, legal counsel, or official government land records. You should independently verify any data obtained through our Services before relying on it for legal, regulatory, financial, or safety-critical decisions. We are not responsible for any loss, damage, or liability arising from reliance on data provided by our Services.
11. Intellectual property
All content, software, data, designs, and trademarks associated with Township Canada are the property of Maps & Apps Inc. or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our Services or content without prior written consent, except as expressly permitted by your subscription or API plan.

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.
13. User feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide to us may be used without restriction or compensation. By submitting feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use it for any purpose.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maps & Apps Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of or inability to use the Services, any data or content obtained through the Services, or unauthorized access to or alteration of your data. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maps & Apps Inc. and our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
17. Termination
You may stop using the Services and close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will remain in effect.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active users in advance.
19. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
20. Entire agreement
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Maps & Apps Inc. regarding your use of the Services.
21. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, Canada.
