Township Canada ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Maps & Apps Inc. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use any of our services, including:
- The Township Canada website and web application at townshipcanada.com (the "Website")
- The Township Canada mobile applications for iOS and Android (the "Mobile Apps")
- The Township Canada API (the "API")
Together, we refer to these as the "Services." By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information we collect
Account and order information
When you create an account or make a purchase, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Billing address
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store your full payment details)
Device identifier (Mobile Apps only)
We collect a unique device identifier to bind your license key to a single device. This ensures each license is used on one device at a time, as specified in our license terms. The device identifier is generated automatically by your device's operating system and is transmitted to our servers only during license activation, validation, and deactivation.
Location data (Mobile Apps and Website)
The Mobile Apps and Website collect your device's location to provide core mapping functionality, including displaying your position on the map, providing turn-by-turn navigation, and showing nearby search results. Location data is processed locally on your device, used only while the app is in active use, not stored on our servers, and not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide mapping and navigation services (see Third-Party Services below).
Website browsing data
When you visit our Website, we collect basic, anonymized usage data through Simple Analytics. This includes page views and referrer information. Simple Analytics does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual visitors. See Simple Analytics' privacy policy for details.
API usage data
If you use the Township Canada API, we log request metadata (timestamps, endpoints accessed, response codes) for rate limiting, billing, and service reliability. We do not log the content of your API requests or responses.
AI assistant data
When you use the Township Canada AI assistant, we collect:
- Your messages and conversation history
- Tool results generated during your conversations (such as location conversions and directions)
- Usage metadata (message counts for rate limiting)
Your messages are sent to our AI provider (see Third-Party Services below) to generate responses. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
Locally stored information (Mobile Apps)
The following information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Saved locations (your bookmarked places)
- Recent search history
- App settings and preferences
Information we do not collect
- No Behavioral Tracking — We do not use Google Analytics, Hotjar, or any tool that tracks individual user behavior across our Services.
- No Advertising — We do not collect advertising identifiers, serve ads, or use your information for targeted advertising or marketing communications.
- No Crash Reporting (Mobile) — We do not collect crash reports or diagnostic data from the Mobile Apps.
- No Contacts, Photos, or Other Device Data — We do not access or collect your contacts, photos, messages, or other personal data stored on your device.
How we use your information
To Process Orders — We use your account and order information to fulfill purchases, process payments, provide invoices and order confirmations, and screen orders for potential risk or fraud.
To Provide the Services — We use device identifiers for license management and location data for mapping and navigation functionality.
To Improve Our Services — We use anonymized, aggregated website analytics (via Simple Analytics) to understand which pages are visited and how visitors find us. This data cannot be tied to any individual.
Third-party services
Stripe
Stripe processes payments on our behalf. When you make a purchase, your payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Mapbox
Mapbox provides map tiles, geocoding, and turn-by-turn navigation for the Mobile Apps and Website. When you use mapping features, your location data and search queries are transmitted to Mapbox. See Mapbox's privacy policy.
Simple Analytics
Simple Analytics provides privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics for the Website. It does not collect personal data or track individual users. See Simple Analytics' privacy policy.
Anthropic
Anthropic provides the AI model that powers the Township Canada AI assistant. When you use the assistant, your messages are transmitted to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.

The Mobile Apps use location services provided by your device's operating system:
- Apple Location Services — see apple.com/legal/privacy
