Finding inactive and orphan infrastructure on a parcel means cross-referencing well lists, licence status, the orphan inventory, and pipeline records one legal location at a time. The pack does that cross-reference for each parcel you send and reports the counts and the records behind them.

Wells on the parcel sorted into orphan, reclaimed (Alberta reclamation certified or exempt), abandoned, and suspended, with orphan inventory matches and deemed-orphan dates where published. Alberta orphan flags come from the AER well list and the Orphan Well Association inventory, Saskatchewan flags from the provincial orphan sites list.

  • No 'inactive since' dates for Alberta wells: the AER status date field is empty in the loaded data.
  • Manitoba has wells but no pipeline, facility, production, or orphan inventory layers in the product.

FAQ

Common questions

Does it estimate closure or reclamation cost?
No. The pack reports what infrastructure is on each parcel and its published status. Cost estimates need engineering and site information the public record does not carry.
Where do the orphan flags come from?
In Alberta, from the orphan flag on the AER well list plus a match against the Orphan Well Association inventory. In Saskatchewan, from the provincial orphan sites list. Manitoba has no orphan inventory in the product. Each source carries its own refresh cadence and data date in the pack.
Can I send a whole portfolio?
Yes, as a list or a CSV of legal land descriptions. During the pilot each parcel gets its own report. There is no combined portfolio summary yet.
How is the pack delivered?
During the pilot we run the pack for your parcels and send you the files: JSON, CSV, and GeoJSON for your own tools, plus a printable report. There is no self-serve upload yet.
How current is the data?
Alberta regulator well, pipeline, and facility data refresh monthly, and Saskatchewan loads run weekly to monthly. The Canadian Drought Monitor refreshes monthly and the AAFC crop inventory is annual. Every section names its source and refresh cadence, with an as-of date where the data load records one, so you can see which vintage you are looking at.
